One of the most recent innovations in the field of skin rejuvenation is the use of absorbable wires in Polydioxanone (PDO). These instruments have been used in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and paediatric surgery for years as proof of their safety and biocompatibility.
We distinguish two types of wires:
Biostimulant wires: these wires are inserted into the dermis by means of guide needles, without anchors or sutures. Once placed, the wires stimulate on the surrounding dermis the proliferation of endogenous collagen. The result is a progressive and extremely natural and gradual effect of turgidity and stretch of wrinkles. The result begins to be evident after about 3 weeks and lasts about 12 months. They are used in many areas such as face, neck, cleavage, arms, abdomen, buttocks, thighs.
Traction wires: these are wires with bi-directional teeth which adhere to the subcutaneous plane. They are implanted on a deeper level than biostimulant wires and exert a more important lifting effect. They are recommended for example to lift the cheeks area, the puppet wrinkles, neck shrinkage, or remodelling the mandibular profile. In many cases, the combination of the two types of wires guarantees the most satisfying results.
DURATION AND SIDE EFFECTS
Polydioxanone is a totally biocompatible material and is completely reabsorbed over a period of about 6 months. The visual effect, however, lasts longer (about 12 months) thanks to the production of endogenous collagen determined by the wire. There are no significant side effects, except for the possibility of small hematomas, however transient. After treatment, you can immediately return to your daily activities.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST
The cost of skin rejuvenation with PDO wires varies according to the number and type of treated wires. A more accurate and customized quotation, even in the case of combined treatments, can be done during the consultation.
